The activities we organise vary considerably to accommodate every age group and are open to all although members and their families benefit from a reduced rate where there is a cost. Very popular events for younger members and their families are our annual picnic, which is held in the summer in the lovely grounds of The Old Pheasantry in Mogador near Reigate, and a trip to the pantomime in Epsom in January. (Oh yes it is!)
Our AGM in March is preceded by a meal in an accessible, local pub restaurant and in 2013 we had a pre-Christmas meal in a very nice Italian restaurant in Sutton. This has become a tradition and in 2014 we ate in Banstead. Banstead seems to work for us, so to date, that is where we have our pre-Christmas meal.
We held a teaparty in 2015 to celebrate our 50th birthday and it was such a success that we held another in 2017 with a children's entertainer and puzzles for the adults. See the photos here.
Other activities arranged in the past include coffee mornings, a fund raising jazz evening, a visit to a children’s farm and, for the more adventurous, we have enjoyed archery, trips on an accessible canal boat and visits to an activity centre. Other suggestions for activities are welcome!
For future events, please see our current Newsletter on this site and check the national Shine website for national events.
In the current pandemic, we are not able to hold our normal events but we have a weekly coffee morning on zoom to which you are very welcome. If you are interested in joining us, please let us know via the Contact Us form and we'll send you the link.
